Brief and specific description of personal heroism or achievements: a mechanic-driver of an M4-A2 tank, comrade Volnistiy showed himself a decisive and skilled mechanic-driver. During the pursuit of the enemy from September 17th to September 25th his tank covered over 500 km in the regiment's vanguard without any breakdowns or emergency stops.
In battle on September 29th and October 1st, 1943, comrade Volnistiy was the first to position his tank to stand against an enemy counterattack and negotiated an anti-tank obstacle, as a result of which the tank destroyed one PzIV tank, two mortars, and four machine guns.
Conclusion: for courage, bravery, and skilful action, he is worthy of the state award of the Order of the Red Star."
