Distinguishing markings of the Armoured Forces of the Central Front

A: Land forces (daytime), tanks and armoured cars



The stripes are applied with chalk or white paint to the right, left, and rear of the tank turret (see drawing).

Size of the stripes:
Turret:
  • Width: 30 cm
  • Height: entire height of the turret
B: Land forces (nighttime), tanks and armoured cars

Brief flashes of a portable lamp with a half-open or fully open hatch, at least three.

Notes: tactical numbers (two or three digits) are established by the unit or formation commander for each vehicle. They are applied to the front, side, and rear of the tank. If possible, they are applied on the turret bustle. If not, below the turret (see drawing). The size of the numbers is:
  • Height: 30-50 cm
  • Width: 2/3 of the height
  • Line thickness: 1/6 of the height
